How long does the process take?

All time frames quoted are from the time your application is submitted following acceptance of an offer of employment; incomplete applications will delay these time frames.

Medical registration -

  • Specialist takes approximately 4 months.
  • Non Specialist takes approximately 1 month.
  • GP's may be required to attend an interview.

Nursing registration -

  • State registrations take approx 4 weeks

Allied Health -

  • Registration takes approx 4 weeks depending on the specialty

Visa’s  -                            

  • Temporary business visa  -  6 - 8 weeks.
  • General Skilled Permanent Residency – 12 – 18 months.
  •  Employer Sponsored permanent residency – 3 months

Citizenship -                             

  •  4 years from date of arrival, a values test applies.
How much does it cost?

Costs vary therefore the costs quoted are indicative only, when we begin to work with you we will be able to be more specific, all prices quoted are in Australian Dollars

Medical Personnel:-        

  • State registrations for initial registration vary between $500 – 1500
  • AMC AON Assessment (Specialists)  $225
  • Specialist College AON Assessments from $4,000 this is refunded on arrival.

Nursing:-                      

  • State initial registrations $150 - $250 depending on the state
  • ANMC assessment for permanent residency is $ 550.

Allied Health:-                      

  • Varies by organization

Visa’s:-                                  

  • Temporary Business Visa - $190 ( all family included on the  application)
  • Permanent Residency visa fee $2,000 – additional costs applicable if you use a migration agent.

Medical:-                       

  • Required by all perons who will be working in a Healthcare establishment or attending school or child care  $ 250                                                

Chest X-Ray:-                        Required by all persons over the age of 11 years $100

Am I covered by Australia's health care system?
Reciprocal cover applies to citizens of some countries however this cover only applies to emergency treatment therefore we recommend that all persons take Overseas Visitor Cover for Medical expenses, additional extra’s for Dental, Optical and other alternative therapies is also available.  The cost per month for a family is approx $300 + $100 for extras, Singles cover is approx $ 200.   There are various companies that provide this cover.
Can my partner work?

There are no restrictions on the employment for a spouse, children who are included on the visa are considered dependents and are precluded from full time work.

Do I pay school fees for my children?

School fees vary by State, you may be eligible for partial subsidy however this does depend on the school policy.  Australian permanent residents pay approx $500 per child per year in the public education system.

Will the employer pay my relocation costs?

Relocation expenses are individually negotiated with the employer if they are not covered by the Salary award applicable to the candidate.  Contributions towards relocation costs vary depending on the length of contract that you will commit to, generally no relocation support is provided on contracts of less than 2 years.

Who will help me with the paperwork?

We will work with you on all the paperwork, application forms will be emailed by us to you and we will assist you with any queries, all forms should be returned to us for submission so that we can add any employer paperwork required.
Incomplete applications delay the process.

When can I get Permanent Residency

Employees can apply for permanent residency when they have met the requirements of their registering authority and have unconditional registration.
If you are under 45 years of age you can apply for General Skilled Migration.
Employers may also offer sponsorship for Permanent Residency this can be for all ages however you agree to work with the organization for a further 2 years.  If you leave within that time the organization can withdraw sponsorship and you will need to leave the country unless you obtain alternative sponsorship.
